Registry file names

What are the names of all the registry files (including backups,
etc.), and in which folders are they located?

I'm running Windows XP Pro (Not an OEM version - a full retail
version) on a WinBook XL3 laptop. I want to completely eradicate
all variants, backups, etc. of the existing registry files, then
do a fresh, total re-install that will create a totally new,
fresh set of registry files. Can I do this by booting from a CD,
then locating all the old registry files and either deleting or
renaming them?
