I had windows Xp and with service pack 1 and then i had
installed visual studio with service pack 5 and after
installing it on XP while opening reference from the
project menu of visual basic it gives error and the
message was "Error accessing system registry". Help me out
of this as i had reinstall visual studio more than 5 times
and i had formatted my PC more than 2 times then also same
problem occurs.

A long shot - I had a similar problem back in the Windows
95 days. Opening IE, even once, would damage the registry
in a subtle way that would cause that error message a few
days later. I had to reformat and reinstall to recover,
more than a dozen times in a few months. It turned out to
be a video driver! If you have a WHQL driver for your
video card, you should be okay. Otherwise, look for a
better driver. I think this is too long a shot to be
worth replacing the video card for unless it is odd or
obsolete anyway.
