I've installed a second copy of XP Pro on my PC so I can fix a registry
problem. How do I access my original registry? New system is on D drive
and original system is on C drive.

thanks.

Hi WWII,

You would have to Load Hive from the C partition into the registry on the D
partition, make the necessary edits, then Unload Hive. To do so, open the
registy editor, click to highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then go to File>Load
Hive. Navigate to the registry hive that you want to edit (eg.,
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system, C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\software or
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\NTUSER.DAT) and give the "new" registry
key a name. You can now expand the "new" key, make the necessary edits, then
click to highlight the "new" key name and go to File>Unload Hive.
