Hello,
I have Windows XP and I am trying to remove a few viruses from my PC. My
anti-virus program has advised me to remove them manually through by editing
the registry.

However, when I click start, run, regedit I recieve an error "registry
editing has been disabled by your administrator"

I am the administrator, and have two users on this computer, how do I adjust
this setting in order to edit the registry?

Any help would be great!

Hi Danielle,

It may be that W32.Swen is one of the viruses that has infected your
computer, as modifying the DisableRegistryTools value in the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
is one of the changes that Swen makes in order to prevent the user from
running Regedit.

There is a removal tool available from here:

Please read the article over very carefully for instructions on obtaining
and using the tool.

Regards,
