I have Windows XP Home Edition.

I think a virus or something got into my computer. I kept getting these
messages about my computer was infected. So like a dummy I went into the
registry and started deleting stuff that looked unfamiliar. Now my compter
keeps giving me error messages about something not being able to start during
start up. Then it displayse that thing that ask if you want to send a report.

Is there a way to restore your directory back to "factory" startup?

Depends on what kind of installation media you have in your possession..

The problem could be solved by doing a repair install on the basis that it
is a Windows function or app that is affected.. it could be that something
you installed is no longer working correctly..

More info on the error message would be cool.. exact wording would be even
better..
