registry cleanup - is it possible in safe mode?

Scott

I'm getting a computer hang on startup (after attempting some spyware
cleanup) and I'm guessing that there is a registry dependency problem.

Is it possible to run a registy cleanup tool when booted in safe mode?
I'm hoping to download a reg cleaner on another box and burn it to CD
for use on the problem machine. I don't know if that's feasible,
though.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's probably possible, but it probably won't "clean up" as much.

It is NOT safe in Safe Mode or Normal Mode.

A registry cleaner is probably not going to help you. They can cause
their own problems.

Try running your antispyware programs in safe mode. If they find infections
and can't clean the puter properly in safe mode or normal mode then look up
the name of the spyware online and look for manual cleaning instructions. As
has been said dont run apps that claim to fix your registry. They dont work
and will cause probems that might not show up for weeks.

Yes. Still, even running a registry cleaner in safe, or regular mode,
does not guarantee the it will undo the damage done by spyware.

Best bet is NOT to install spyware in the first place. Read the docs.
Dont just click NEXT.
