The person who set up our XP spelled our last name
incorrectly. Now it is bugging the heck out of me every
time I open something up and see the error. Is there a way
I can correct... do I need to open a service call to MS to
have them fix?

Just answered. Please don't post the same message a few minutes
apart.

Go to Start | Run and enter regedit. In regedit, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Find RegisteredOwner in the right pane.

Double-click and change as desired.

You only need change the name as included in the registry - the record
on registration at MSoft is only for their marketing or if you want
support, and the much more important activation does not include your
name. To change the registry entry, Start - Run - regedit.exe
(carefully), open the left pane, explorer style to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Highlight it, and in the right pane, double click on 'Registered Owner'
and enter the correct spelling
