REGISTERING WITH A SECONDARY DNS

I have a Primary W2K DNS. Soon I hope to have a secondary
(caching) W2K DNS.

Within each DNS properties page on a workstation and
server is the check box stating..."Register this
connection's addresses in DNS".

My question is, if I point, for example, a client's
workstation to the secondary (cached) DNS server for its
PRIMARY DNS...will it actually somehow register with DNS,
considering that its primary DNS is actually the secondary
(cached) DNS.

Thank you for your input.

Yes --usually -- there are a couple of protocols but the registration
is supposed to end up on the Primary.

Client's don't have a 'primary' -- this first one is called preferred, but
it just means the first of possibly several equals, as the client typically
uses the more responsive one but tries the preferred first.
