Registered to enduser

Greg

I had my computer repaired a while back and, after formatting everything,
the guys at HP registered my computer to "enduser". Is there any way I can
change that? It's quite annoying to see the word "enduser" pop up everywhere
now.

That utility worked well, but I guess I actually have a different problem,
or at least the utility wasn't as thorough as I'd have liked. In the Task
Manager, the User Name for most of the processes is still "enduser". Where
does that come from and how can I change it?

Hi,

That is your logon account. You would need to create a new account with the
preferred name and use it for normal day-to-day work.

Hi,

You changed the name on the default user account, but that did not change
the user folder name - that is where the "enduser" is coming from, look
under C:\Documents and Settings (and, before you ask, no you cannot change
the user folder name).

Can I create a new user and then copy the contents of the enduser folder
into the new one? I have lots of customization, application data, etc, that
I want to preserve. I've always hated this multiple user business on Windows
XP...

Hi,

Absolutely, I do it all the time.

Funny, one of the cheif complaints I used to see in the Win9x forums was the
lack of true user profiles where people could fully customize thier
individual profiles.
