Region Code in Outlook Address Book

I use XP Professional and Outlook 2000.

The problem: Outlook insists on defaulting the country on all new
addresses to follow the "Standards and Formats" settings rather than
the "Location" from the Regional Settings values in the Control Panel.

The drop-down list for "standards and formats" in the Control Panel
doesn't include my country. Outlook seems to completely ignore the
"Location" setting, which is set correctly.
Is there any known solution?

G'Day,

The "Location" in Regional Settings is NOT used for this purpose.

Open "Regional and Language Options" in Control Panel.

Click once on the "?" beside the "X" at the right-hand end
of the Title bar.

Now point to the "Box" for Location and click it - you will see.....
============================================
Provides a place for you to select the country or region from
which you want to receive local content mostly through your
Web browser. You only need to select a country or region if
it is different from the locale you selected under Standards and
Formats.

For example, if you live in Ireland, but want to receive news,
weather, and sports updates from the Netherlands when you
open your Web browser, you would select the Netherlands
in this box.

This option affects only certain content providers, such as MSN.
============================================

This has nothing to do with Outlook.

The Outlook help itself states:
"To change the default country, double-click the Regional Settings icon
in Windows Control Panel (click Start, point to Settings, and then
click Control Panel). On the Regional Settings tab, select the country
you want to use as a default for contact addresses, click OK, and then
restart Outlook."

I assume they are talking about the "Regional and Language Options"
icon, which contains a tab called "Regional Options". On this tab,
there are two entry boxes - "Standards and Formats" and "Location".

"Standards and Formats" is a drop-down list and does not include my
country.
As you so kindly point out, Outlook doesn't use "Location"
So is there ANY way of persuading Outlook to get it right?

G'Day again,

When you are creating contacts, the default Country assigned to
addresses is taken from the "Standards and Formats" list.

For me, that is set to "English (Australia)" and I do get a default
contact address country of "Australia" - If I change the setting to
"English (United Kingdom)" then I get a default country of
"United Kingdom".

I regret I am unable to assist you further.

Yes, that's what I get too. Unfortunately, I don't live in Australia or
United Kingdom.
Maybe someone else can help?
