regiestering XP

Hi
I bought a second hand pc running XP home. The man
reformatted the drive and then loaded windows xp home onto
the drive.
I gave the man his money and i was happy.
BUT now i get a meassage saying register now...26. 25. 24
etc days left. I click on the icon to register but nothing
happens.
The pc does have a code down the side of the box
thing ,but i cannot get to the registration web page to
register the code. (cant get anything not even IE opens)
Any ideas would be great...
Apart from that pc works fine. just cannot register.

P.s i guess if i have not sorted this out within the time
limit the pc wont work.
Should i reinstal xp. He gave me the disc...
What would i type to format the drive...80gb drive

Type "oobe/msoobe /a" ENTER
Follow the prompts

Otherwise:
Reboot to Safe Mode:
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu
Start/Run
Type "regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll" ENTER
Type "regsvr32.exe licdll.dll" ENTER
Reboot.

If I remember rightly, click
Start/Programs/Accessories/System tools/Activate Windows.
There should be an option to ring microsoft with your key
number, instead of having the computer try to do it.
