Regarding Registry setting!!!

Hello All,

I want some information regarding Registry settings done in XP. can
any one explain where will the registry setting for the particular is
stored.

Controlpanel-->Power option-->Advance tab--> changing the power button
setting.

I mean by default it will be as 'SHUTDOWN' so if i change it to
'Standby' or 'Hibernate' where will be the changes in the registry
setting done...

Why do you need to know the registry key to change the power options when
you can do it safely from the control panel?

The main registry keys are:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls
Folder\PowerCfg

Please note: I have given you the 'top level' keys. The settings are subkeys

Example

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg <--- top level
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\CurrentPowerPolicy <--- subkey
