I have a datasheet with about 6000 records that I keep running in the
background. As I enter a new record from a form, I would like the
datasheet to be automatically updated. As well, it needs to show the
last record. I've tried many combinations of requeries etc all to no
avail. Can anyone help me?

You should pay better attention to the Windows and Office update you let get
installed on your computer. Microsoft disabled this feature for the
inattentive about 6 months ago.
