Refreshing a loading page makes it not load again

I know this doesn't happen with IE5.5 or under.

A lot of pages get stuck on loading, and pressing refresh
would just make it try again. However, pressing refresh
more than once in a row now makes the page not display
(With standard error). Refreshing again makes it
immediately reload the error. Pressing enter in the
address bar does the same thing. Going back, then forward
also does it. Aside from either opening a new window and
going to the site, or going to another site in the same
window and retyping the other one's url, the site will
forever display the "This page cannot be displayed error"

Anyway to fix this without going back to IE5.5 (Or anyway
of allowing MSN Messenger to record convo's without IE6+?

Depending on your problem pressing Refresh may be
the wrong thing to do anyway. It forces it to start over
when all you really want it to do is continue and as much as possible
reuse the cache. E.g., in some cases fresh images may have been
downloaded and stored in the cache but for some reason not rendered.

Instead see if more of your page loads up if you press Ctrl-N
or just use Alt-Tab to switch to a different task, wait a bit and
then switch back to it.

Those procedures may be assisted by temporarily changing
your caching option to
Check for newer versions of stored pages: Never
(Alt-T,O,Alt-S,N)
or, for the cloning procedure, even by setting Work Offline
(e.g. to test the case that the Red X is erroneous because
the file has obviously been downloaded into the cache already.)
