I was wondering if it is possible to reformat my Hard Drive and reinstall my
copy of windows ? My computer came with XP home preinstalled and no disc. Is
it possible to create a disc ?

Your computer vendor must, in order to comply with the MS OEM Builders
Licence, provide you with a method of returning your machine to
factory-gate condition. Consult your user manual, or contact your Vendor on
how to do this.

No, it isn't possible to create a disk without the install files. and the
i386 folder isn't enough to do this.

In this case, you'll have to use the recovery partition, though the install
from recovery partitions is usually an imaging process, as distinct from an
install - it may re-partition and format first, but you have no control over
this.

If your system doesn't have a recovery partition, you have a problem and
must contact the vendor and/or manufacturer, because it should have come
with either the disk or the partition.

Disks are a *much* better idea, because drives have certainly been known to
fail, and that removes any chance of accessing the recovery partition.

If the vendor is gone and the manufacturer isn't available or is unwilling
to help, you will have to simply purchase a new XP license to do this. And
in that case, you should contact MS as you certainly should have been
provided with a method of reinstallation.
