reformatting extensively linked spreadsheet

Lisa

I am trying to add 3 new stores to a very
extensive "controller's report" spreadsheet that
references "gross sales ytd" and "last year's gross sales
ytd" from worksheets from prior fy. The worksheets are
set up in week and period format. week 1, period 1 would
be the first week of the year, through week 4, period 13.
I need to add these new stores to the existing format,
however referencing each one of the last fy worksheets
that tie to that week and period is impossible. Please
help!

Hi Lisa
It's best if you stay in the same thread. Your description is kind of unclear as to what you need to do

If you want to duplicate a sheet, right click on an existing sheet tab and then select "Move or Copy" and check "create copy"

If you want to copy formulas within a spreadsheets you can use Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste_Special>Formulas

If you need to change the links in the new formulas use Edit>Replace

Hopefully some of these suggestions will help

By the way, what is an "fy"

Good Luck

FY stands for Fiscal Year.

Add to the current report, and leave the link out for the last year references.

I would suggest saving the file before you do anything to it and work on a copy
of the file rather than the original

This may be a good time to break up what you're doing a
bit. Excel is a limited as a database but maybe this can
be done by macro or some other type of import. Sight
unseen makes it hard to tell and Excel does have limits.

I doubt the user groups is a good place to talk fiscal
year company stuff nor is this newsgroup the panacea for
developing extensive solutions. I would advise you to
consider having someone either look at your workbook
scheme or even a mockup and perhaps utilize their services
to resolve, improve, etc. your situation.

I have noticed a number of talented people responding to
posts out here that likely offer professional services
that encompass what you would like done from simplistic to
complex project. Somebody started a rumor that I do that
too... ;^)

thanks Kent for your informative reply. We are working on
a new database for accounting purposes, however, we are in
a time crunch as a new store is opening in 3 weeks and we
need to be able to continue our financial reporting status
quo for the time being anyway. I have just started here,
and am running into snags all over the place! I just
thought I might run into someone who had had the same
situation and would commiserate with me! :)
