reformating the hardrive

i wanted a fresh start for my computer i did the fdisk thing i got lost long story short 3 months latter when i start my computer it says i have no operating system and i dont know where to start from now
i've been told to put in the disk for my hard drive but it just goes blank
help if you can thanks
 
The XP CD is bootable.

Go into the BIOS and change things so you can boot from the CD drive.

Boot with the XP CD in the drive and follow the prompts.

You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
