reformat c drive

Is there any way to reformat the c drive? I'm using
windows xp and want to remove the operating system,
reformat the c drive and install windows 98.

on windows xp home click "start" move to "all Programs"

click "accessories" then "command prompt" , It will open
a second window type in "format c:" press "enter" it
will ask "proceed with format?" type "y" &
press "enter"....make sure you have a boot disk made up
first
