References - Authors specifically

I need to reference a list of authors at the end of a chapter but can't
figure out how to do it so that they are listed as superscripted numbers
throughout the chapter and listed 1-30 at the end of the chapter. Table of
Contents, Index, etc. don't seem like they're working. ANY IDEAS PLEASE!
