Referenceing subforms

In a query I want to find a specific record on a value
contained in a sub form what is the code

Values are not "contained in" subforms, any more than the Owyhee
Mountains are "contained in" my office window. The Subform is just a
tool that lets you view the data in a subset of records of a table.

Could you explain where the data you want to find is stored, and how
you want to select the criteria to find the record?
