referenced memory error

iget the following for almost all apps all of a sudden
usinf XP Prof.
(iexplorer.exe, obc.exe, nwmain.exe, winpad.exe etc.)
Application error - The instruction at 0x00000006
referenced memory at 0x00000006. The memory could not be
read.

What could it be.
