Reference to an external filename changing frequently

I need to reference, within a Word document, the name of another file. The
problem is that the name of the referenced file changes quite often.

Does anyone know if there is a way to update all the references to that
filename in my Word document without having to manually change every
occurrence of it?

I'm using Office 2008.

Have you tried storing the file name in a global variable (that is via a SET
field)? That might simplify the task a bit.
