Sorry, my problum may be the icon on my desktop. the icon is a ful icon and
should be an empty icon. I tried to change the icon ,but that did not work
it shows as a full icon. How can I fix this. I sent something to the
recycle bin and was able to empty it but the icon shows it as full.

Try this first.

Right click the Desktop | Click Properties | Click the Desktop tab |
Click the Customize Desktop button | Click on the Recycle Bin (full) icon |
Click the Restore Default button | Scroll over to the right and click on the
Recycle Bin (empty) icon | Click the Restore Default button

Restore Default button:
[[Click to use the Windows default icon for the selected desktop item.]]

You may have to reboot, I have no idea.

If that doesn't work, go here...

Read the instructions at the top.
Scroll down to...

Wesley,

There are many ways to do this but sometimes creating a text doc then
deleting to recycle bin then deleting the recycle bin sometimes works, but
another way is this:

Create a new Shortcut
Paste in this line:
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon
Click NEXT
Click FINISH

Now double-click the icon when the recycle bin is empty, which should
replace the recycle bin icon to the correct one

Please note: If this doesn't work then its because its a Win32 API & is used
in programming, but the LockWorkstation function in the User32.dll doesn't
take any parameters & returns an Integer just like this function so it
should work This function is held within the Shell32.dll

Please post back your findings

Cheers,

Meaginn,

Was just checking because its an API used in programming

The VB.NET code is:

Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices

<DllImport("Shell32.dll")> _
Private Shared Function SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon() As Int32
End Function

Then call the following code behind the button:

SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon()

The above code will change the icon to the default recycle bin icon once
empty

Attached to this post is a VB.NET application I wrote especially for you
that runs with the .NET Framework 1.1. You will see your name in the help |
about box & also when you right-click the application | properties | version
| comment

The application empties the recycle bin silently & no confirmation & updates
the icon

Feel free to distribute it but remember I own the copyright & you need the
..NET Framework 1.1 to run it

To download the file attached you need to be using Outlook Express as your
newsreader

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/support/newsgroups/howto.mspx

The above will show you how to configure it so if you want you can download
the attachment I created especially for you

I hope this helps,

Was just checking because its an API used in programming

The VB.NET code is:

Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices

<DllImport("Shell32.dll")> _
Private Shared Function SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon() As Int32
End Function

Then call the following code behind the button:

SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon()

The above code will change the icon to the default recycle bin icon once
empty

Attached to this post is a VB.NET application I wrote especially for you
that runs with the .NET Framework 1.1. You will see your name in the help
| about box & also when you right-click the application | properties |
version
comment

The application empties the recycle bin silently & no confirmation &
updates the icon

Feel free to distribute it but remember I own the copyright & you need the
.NET Framework 1.1 to run it

To download the file attached you need to be using Outlook Express as your

The above will show you how to configure it so if you want you can
download the attachment I created especially for you

don't know what to do , I did as you said and nothing changed. thanks

:

Wesley,

There are many ways to do this but sometimes creating a text doc then
deleting to recycle bin then deleting the recycle bin sometimes works,
but another way is this:

Create a new Shortcut
Paste in this line:
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon
Click NEXT
Click FINISH

Now double-click the icon when the recycle bin is empty, which should
replace the recycle bin icon to the correct one

Please note: If this doesn't work then its because its a Win32 API & is
used in programming, but the LockWorkstation function in the User32.dll
doesn't take any parameters & returns an Integer just like this
function so it should work This function is held within the Shell32.dll

Please post back your findings

Cheers,

Meaginn,

Look back over the past few posts made by me & you will see the paperclip
attachment like with a normal e-mail, click the paperclip, save the
attachment, unzip, run it, click the button & all going well your recycle
bin icon should change to empty. If it don't then either you have something
like Norton protected recycle bin or your standard icon has changed. Also,
you could look in C drive with system files visible (Tools | Folder Options
| View | Hide Protected Operating Files (UNTICK (ignore waning by clicking
YES)), click APPLY, click OK. Now check C:\Recycler\{CLSID HERE} for files
then hide the protected system files again

Strange how you are so interested in the user's headers when your e-mail
address is 'comcast.net' which is responsible for a huge amount of SPAM
each day. Is this a coincidence, Wes?

Meaginn,

Was just checking because its an API used in programming

The VB.NET code is:

Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices

<DllImport("Shell32.dll")> _
Private Shared Function SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon() As Int32
End Function

Then call the following code behind the button:

SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon()

The above code will change the icon to the default recycle bin icon
once empty

Attached to this post is a VB.NET application I wrote especially for
you that runs with the .NET Framework 1.1. You will see your name in
the help | about box & also when you right-click the application |
properties | version
comment

The application empties the recycle bin silently & no confirmation &
updates the icon

Feel free to distribute it but remember I own the copyright & you need
the ..NET Framework 1.1 to run it

To download the file attached you need to be using Outlook Express as
your newsreader

The above will show you how to configure it so if you want you can
download the attachment I created especially for you

just don't know what to do , I did as you said and nothing changed.
thanks

:

Wesley,

There are many ways to do this but sometimes creating a text doc
then deleting to recycle bin then deleting the recycle bin sometimes
works, but another way is this:

Create a new Shortcut
Paste in this line:
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe
shell32.dll,SHUpdateRecycleBinIcon Click NEXT
Click FINISH

Now double-click the icon when the recycle bin is empty, which
should replace the recycle bin icon to the correct one

Please note: If this doesn't work then its because its a Win32 API &
is used in programming, but the LockWorkstation function in the
User32.dll doesn't take any parameters & returns an Integer just
like this function so it should work This function is held within
the Shell32.dll

Please post back your findings

Cheers,

Wes,

It is also known as CDONTS

I used to use this for e-mail applications in programming but use System.net

There used to be problems with CDO not registering on Windows 2000, but not
always

When I used to code in VB 6 in 1998-2001 I used to write MAPI Messaging
applications too, but it always used to produce the security warning used in
Outlook (An application is attempting to send...).

Doesn't matter, it is Internet Explorer.

Try this.

Click on Use Web-based reader for Windows XP General.

Open Task Manager | Applications tab | Right click on Windows XP General and
