Reenter password

If I have logged in to a password protected directory on a
web server, then I try to open a MS Word or other document
listed on the web page, I have to reenter my username and
password.

However, I can go to a different computer with same OS and
service packs etc. and it does not promt me again. I have
looked through all the security settings.
