Redundant update downloads with 2 harddrives

I boot to either of my 40GByte (identical) harddrives and
my time is consumed by updating each of them separately
whenever Microsoft "closes" a back door security
problem. How do I copy these "critical updates" from one
hard-drive to another once I've downloaded & installed
them once on either hard-drive?
