After waiting on the phone for over 35 minutes for a
Microsoft customer service rep I decided to try to get a
reply from users.

I'm trying to reduce the size of the taskbar at the
bottom of my desktop. I unlocked the taskbar and even
when I get the double sided arrow and try to bring it
down it doesn't do anything. Does anyone know how I
might make the taskbar which is not about an inch high
shorter? Thanks.

This can happen if the faint hatched handle that should be right of the
Quick Launch buttons gets dragged too far right and jumps down to make a
lower level. Look for it under the right end of 'Start' and drag it
right and up to just after the QL icons, and things should jump back
