reducing beep volume on startup?

hi, is it possible to turn down the volume on the single BEEP i get
from the case speaker, on bootup?

i have an Aopen AX63PRO running win98se. it doesn't mention anything
about it in the motherboard manual, that i have found

i've never heard of the system speaker being very loud...
if you are sure the beep is not comming thru your external speakers...
you could put a resistor in series with the speaker...

btw: some motherboards have the option to use an on board transducer instead

Put some tpae over the hole on the speaker, or if you are ising the
case speaker, connect a low ohm potentiometer in series.
