Reduced display

Narelle

I have been running Windows XP for about 6 months with no
problems but in the last week or so, the display on my
screen has periodically 'jumped' to a more elongated,
narrow shape, leaving large black spaces on either side,
as though the display area had suddenly shrunk. After
varying amounts of time, it tends to jump back to normal.
Could this be a hardware problem with my (aging) monitor,
or is there some adjustment I can make through XP????
Any suggestions very welcome!!! THANKS!! Narelle

Narelle;
I am no expert, but it sounds to me like your monitor is failing. The
reason I say this is, the display size does not stay at the reduced size, it
keeps changing. There are adjustments for this, but I don't see how they will
do any good. The Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) must be getting tired. ;o)
I am sure this is not what you wanted to hear, so wait and see if someone
else offers an opinion.
Keep smiling.
Wes
