Reduce the size of a web page download

I can't find how to select the option in Internet Explorer that will
minimize the size of the web page being downloaded.

I need this for speeding up the web page download on a laptop pc that is
connected via an cell phone on the GPRS network. It is using EDGE
technology but it is still painfully slow(slower than a 56K modem). I would
like to
set IE up so that it minimizes the size of the web page download to speed it
up.

I would appreciate any help.

Sorry about posting in the wrong place originally. My need is not to reduce
the size of the display on the monitor but reduce the bit count of the page
downloaded. With wireless web surfing the download speed is slower than a
56k dial-up. At one time, early in the life of the internet, there were
recommendations on making a setting to download pages much faster, rather
than download all the pretty pictures. Is that setting, change, whatever
still available in IE 6???
