How do I reduce the size (resolution) of a photo to email it so it doesn't
take forever to open the file? Windows XP, Outlook Express

Use a graphics program, and reduce the image size and/or dpi. After
choosing your dimensions and dpi (dots per inch) - take care to "Save As"
and give the "reduced image" a new name - thus creating a new graphics
file - so that you don't overwrite the original with a "lesser" quality
one).

I find that 13cm to 15 cm wide and 150dpi suite me for email use but, many
seem to recommend 72dpi - ...I've never got along with 72dpi ! :-(

You can open the image in a program and resize it there. Irfanview is free
and easy to use, and so is Picasa. Another really easy way is to use the MS
Image Resizer Power Toy. Download it, install it, and it will give you a
new entry in the right-click context menu to resize images.

You can do it with XP to send photos in Outlook Express.

Go to My Pictures, and select what you want to email by holding down Ctrl,
and clicking on what you want to send.
If you have 10 pics, hold down Ctrl and click on 1,2 4, 7, etc.
It will give you a multiple selection.

Or, hold down Shift, and click 1st, then last to select All.
Next, if "email these files" is not already there in the left-hand pane,
click on FOLDERS across the top to makle it show.

Click on Email them, and a window will come up asking you if you want XP to
make them smaller to mail, etc, etc
