I keep getting redirected to essearch.net ads on any search engine I use. I
have tried to query essearch.net but get nothing. Is this malware installed
on my pc? I have used one care protection scan and antivirus software..both
say my computer is not infected...any ideas?

It sure sounds like you have malware, Beth!

(Out of curiosity, what do the ads want you to purchase?)

Try this:

Use another PC to download the free MalwareBytes program from this site:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

The installation file is named:

mbam-setup.exe

Rename the file to something like beth.exe

Then transfer it to a flash drive.

Then start your PC in Safe Mode (with Networking, if possible), copy the
file from the flash drive to your PC, and double-click it to install. If
you are able to use Safe Mode with networking, you have the added
benefit of downloading the latest antimalware definitions. If not,
install and run in plain old Safe Mode; it's better than nothing.

Actually, there is another method to make sure you have the latest
antimalware definitions. See this page:

http://www.gt500.org/malwarebytes/database.jsp

Reboot.

Then try to download and run Microsoft's MRT tool (Malicious Software
Removal Tool):

http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.aspx

Just click on the link that says "Skip the details and download the
tool."

In the event you still have remnants of the malware (quite possible),
you should consider posting a HijackThis log to an appropriate forum.
