Redirection After Cutting

When using Excel 2002 on my desktop PC, when I highlight a large section of
data to cut, once I've scrolled to the end of the range I'm highlighting and
click on "cut", I'm automatically taken back to the upper-left section of the
highlighted range. But, on my laptop PC, using Excel 2003, when I click on
"cut" I am not taken back up to the upper-left section of the range. I am
instead left down at the bottom end of the highlighted range.

Is there a setting that allows me to choose where I want to be taken to
after I cut a range of data?

In case my explaination doesn't make sense, here is an example. If I
highlight the range of A20 down to T900, when I select "cut" I want the cell
A20 to be showing on the screen instead of T900. Otherwise I have to scroll
back up to get to the top of the range, which is a waste of time since I want
to repaste the data a few rows below A20 (and "insertsing rows" won't work in
this instance).

Think it simply depends on where is the active cell in your selection of the
range. If you select the range A20:T900 from the bottom right cell T900
upwards and left to A20, then you click on cut, you're brought back to where
the active cell, ie T900 is visible. If you select from A20 downwards and
right to T900, then you click on cut, then you'd be brought back to where the
active cell A20 is visible. Instead of selecting large ranges with the mouse,
perhaps just simply type in the range, eg: A20:T900 in the name box*, then
press ENTER to select it. That way, it would be faster to select, and the
active cell would always be the top left cell within the range.

*box with the drop arrow just above the col header "A", to the left of the
formula bar

In every case, my active cell is the top left cell. I always highlight from
the top-left down to the bottom-right...at least in these scenarios I'm
referring to. But, in Excell 2003 on my laptop I'm not taken back up to the
active cell. I'm not sure if its the version of Excel or the default
settings on the different computers.

As for multi-posting, I usually try to avoid doing it, but that other excel
message board clearly gets little traffic. I posted my question yesterday
morning and got no response, then I notice this "Excel general questions"
board which obviously gets more traffic so I posted here. I would've deleted
the other one if I could.

I've just tested it (in Excel 2003 on a laptop) and it worked in exactly the
same way as mentioned in the earlier response. I'm not sure why you get that
odd behaviour over there despite the active cell always being the top left
as you say. Perhaps others might offer you some other insights. Hang around
awhile.

No prob. It was a standard refrain not to multi-post. The regular responders
read most of the common MS excel newsgroups including
microsoft.public.excel, where your other identical post was made. So I don't
think your post would have missed their attention there. The traffic in
microsoft.public.excel isn't that "little", albeit it is less than here in
microsoft.public.excel.misc. Depending on the issue posted, sometimes one
has to be a little patient for responses to flow in.
