in old DOS one could do a dir > filexxx or toggle from keyboard to redirect
all.
how is this done in win xp?

you mean, how do you get a text file with a list of all the files in a
particular directory? I don't know, but you can copy an image of the entire
screen with the print screen button, or the active window with alt +
print-screen
Then paste into any program that will accept the pasting of an image file,
such as Word, or Paint.

I wish I knew how to simply get an outputted listing in simple ascii, too.
Should be simple. maybe someone else knows?
