Red X instead of a picture

I'm attempting to update my web site, only to find that I cannot insert a .jpg picture that I have downloaded from my digital camera. I'm using the same process that I used when I originally built the site. The help screen points me to a graphics filter. I've re-loaded frontpage and office 2000, to no avail. Help!

How big is the image file for the picture??
You may need to resize / resample the image.

It can be done with the free IrfanView.

Download your images from your camera to a folder outside of FP, edit them with whatever image editor you like...Irfranview, Photoshop, PaintShop Pro whatever, save them as .jpg (if photo), .gif (if graphics). Now, IMPORT the one you want to use into FP. Import it into the Image folder...now place it where ever you want on your webpage.

Once you've downloaded the image from the camera, you will want to open it
with an image program (such as photoshop) - resize the image to how you want
it, and then check to see what MODE the colors are in. Some browsers won't
take an indexed color image, or they prefer a RGB or CMYK file. I have
found that when I put RGB images, they show up more consistently thant
indexed color or CMYK images.

you shouldn't use cmyk for images, that's for print. indexed color is for gifs as you probably know - & don't use gifs for photos.
