Recycle bin does not work with a mapped network drive

We share all of our files off an application server mapped to the I: drive.
Is there a way to force files deleted from the I: drive to go the recycle
bin? I don't think it would matter if the files went to the recycle bin on
the server (windows 2003) or one of the workstations running XP.

Any help or work arounds you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Windows has no native support for recovery of files deleted from a mapped
drive. However, there are third party products which have this capability -
eg.:
