Recurring fatal error on IE6.0

Does somebody know what this means?

I get one of those "Explorer performed an illegal operation" pop-ups and it
says program will now close.

sometimes it freezes my system and pops right back up no matter how many
times I click it. Other times I click it and my desktop disappears and the
screen goes blank except for the blue windows wallpaper, then my task bar
combacks sans 4 out of the 7 icons in the lower right running task area.

The detail of the "illegal operation" message says:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff9db61.

Hi,
Another program is interfering with IE- possibly an adware, spyware,
parasite program.
See:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
You should run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot. Also note the security tips
on that page.
Additional information at:
The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
More security tips at http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
Bugs, Glitches & Stuffups: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm

Or...
A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security,
anti-virus, toolbars and other add-ons to IE, etc. Also... notorious for
causing problems- Gator, Kazaa and some others. You may have to reinstall,
or not reinstall, a program.

There are other possibilities for KERNEL32 errors, including corrupted or
outdated video drivers
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#kernel32
Start at Control Panel> Display> Settings> Advanced for information on your
video adapter/driver including (possibly) a link to the manufacturer's
website.

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff9db61.

This is actually a non-NT Windows Desktop crashing, not IE
and the pattern to the crash address is often thought to signify
a problem with video drivers.

To test this idea, use Display Properties to reduce the demands
being put on your video card and see if you crash less often.

Also, check with your video card manufacturer to see if there is
a newer version of its drivers or known problems with the one
that you are using.

Good luck
