Recurring Events Missing

Z

ZootRot

Outlook 2007 (12.06514.5), Win Xp

Some annual events appear to have disappeared from my calendar, however they
remain visible when viewing a list of events. They also appear on my
WinMobile cellphone which syncs with ActiveSync.

I've done the following, to no avail:
1. checked that autoarchive is not running.
2. edited and saved the annual event.
3. re-synchronised.
4. reset the calendar view various ways.
5. and obviously checked that the annual event is correctly set up.

Perhaps, I should have said, "changed the view". From single day to
multiple day, to month, etc.

There is a bug involving activesync and calendar views. It was fixed on
Exchange servers (using Exchange Active Sync) but not for desktop's
activesync.

Try setting the recurring items to have an end date - this seems to prevent
the problem. You may need to recreate the affected items though. If the item
recurs multiple times each year, end it on Dec 31 and make a new one for
next year. For less frequent events, end in 2012 - then update the end date
in 2011.

I thought there was a KB for the hotfix for exchange but I couldn't find it
in a quick search. I'll keep looking.

Just to add info. I have 2 desktop systems each running Outlook 2007 and a
WinMobile phone which I use to sync with each to keep both desktops syncd.
All of a sudden all my annually recurring events disappeared from the
calendar view, but are still listed when you change the view to recurring
events. I looked closer and the sync changed every one of them to occuring 1
time every 12 years. I corrected them all resynd and same problem.
Depending on which computer I'm syncing with it changes all the annually
recurring events to 1 time every 12 years. Seemed to happen about the time
the current year changed to 2010. Darn aggravating!!

That's a bug - see http://www.slipstick.com/problems/recur12yrs.asp

The fix is to set an end date.

Jim,

Could I ask what OS you use? I've tried to keep two PC's in sync with
XP/Outlook 2003/Activeysnc 4.5/WinMo 6.1 and have never been as sucessful as
you.

Sure. I have Windows XP/Professional, Outlook 2007/Activesync 4.5.0 on both
desktops and Windows Mobile 6. It's always worked very well. I've just
completed changing all my active recurring annual appointments to have an
"end" date. I'll know when I sync with my other desktop whether or not it
has worked.
