Does conditional formatting work with rectangle controls in Access 2003?
When selecting a rectange in design view the conditional formatting
option is grayed out. If I select a text box, conditional formatting is
not grayed out.

I believe Condition Formatting only works with controls that can have data
bound to them.

Thanks. I was wanting to highlight the current row in a continuous form
subform using instructions by Marshall Barton, and it stated "set the
rectangle's Conditional Formating Expression ..."

You misunderstood. A TextBox control is used as the background rectangle to
allow for ConditionalFormatting.
