Word 07, on WinXP
Have a small file, approx 444KB, that has become unopenable overnight.
Worked on throughout the day yesterday without incident. When attempt to open
this morning, get the following message
"Word experienced and error trying to open the file. Try these
suggestions.......
Check file permissions
make sure sufficient memory......
Open file with text recovery converter....
I attempted the Open and Repair method suggested in the SHOW HELP dialog
without success-- received the same origianl message
Ran the text recovery converter, which recovered the first page, but
converted thel remainder to something resembling HTML code-- about 68 pages.

Any other suggestions.

BTW-- the file does reside on a network share-- other files on the network
are behaving normally.
Thanks for yoru time.

Here are some other possible ways of extracting information from a corrupt
file.
1. Open new blank file; Insert, File.
2. If these doesn't work, try opening the document in WordPad.
3. If all else fails, go back to the Open dialog in Word and set the "Files
of type" box to "Recover Text from Any File". You'll get a lot of garbage,
but some or all of the text should be there.
Have a look here: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/corruptdoc.htm or
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm
Best of luck
