recovering word files

is there any way to recover a lost word file, say if you accidentaly close a
document without saving it

The likelihood of successfully recovering an unsaved document is

If the changes were never saved they were never a part of the file. The
unsaved changes were nothing more than ideas you intended to write down but
didn't.
