Recovering registry from damaged patition

my Hard drive partition with xp got messed up, Is there
any way i can recover the registry settings for the whole
system without accessing regedit, i can access all the
files that were present before using recovery software.
for example is there one file where the registry is
stored so i can import it into a new system. Please Help

If you are certain that your system partition is indeed "messed up", then
the best thing to do is to start over. How do you know that you won't be
retrieving the very thing that "messed up" your partition in the first
place?
