recovering email addresses/messages in outlook express

Someone got into my outlook express and deleted all of my user info. As a
result, all of my saved messages and addresses were deleted. Is there any way
to recover this info. Unfortunately, I did not have it backed up.

I'm no expert but here's what I would try. add your email accounts with the
Tool/Accounts dialogue. It will set up a place to store messages.

But before that, do a search for files named *.dbx

This will locate where your email folders are now. I'd create a new folder
and copy the lot of them into there.

Once you've recreated your email accounts, copy&paste in the files from the
folder you created to the one the new account is using (right click a
folder - say inbox - and it will tell the place the messages are being
stored -

or -

use the Tool/Options Maintanance tab and change the store folder to the one
you created in the beginning.

I've used these methods a few times and not lost any email.
