recovering corrupted registry

hi I'm in the middle of trying to recover my computer
following the steps given in the knowledge base article
307545. when i exit the recovery console and restart my
computer it gets to the login screen but only shows the
background with no actual log in . i can move the mouse so
it hasn't completely crashed but thats all. Can anyone
help?

Maybe try at start-up,tap the F8 key,select,safe mode with networking,
then enter as ADM.,youre user profile might be corrupted,if so create a
new one,delete old.You might also read kb# 307654
