recovering a file after not saving

I accidentally closed out a file without saving it; losing data that I worked
on for some time. Does AutoRecover only work when there is an application
error or when the program encounters a problem? I looked in the subdirectory
where AutoRecover files are stored, but there was no file there.

Thanks,

Sorry, that information is gone. Unless you can get a utility for
resurrecting deleted files (such utilities exist but require some expertise
to operate safely), you'll have to recreate the document from scratch.

AutoRecover files are deleted when you close the document normally (that is,
when there hasn't been a crash). You can't rely on it when you've merely
made a mistake.

To help prevent a repeat, see
