recover old outlook 2003 files

After getting a message stating that my version of Office 2003 was not
authentic, I purchased a retail version of Office 2007 Small Business. Per
Microsoft's instructions, I uninstalled Office 2003, and installed Office
2007. All went well, but all of my mail folders, where I had important
correspondence kept, are empty. Can I recover these files? If so, how?

Reinstalling/updating Outlook will not delete any Outlook data files, just
as it will not delete all your Word files. In general, even your settings
will be migrated. In case it didn't for you, reconfigure Outlook with your
email accounts and reconnect your original pst-file via;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

Use a 3rd part pst-recover tool to recover your old mails. You can try
a tool called Advanced Outlook Repair. You can download a free demo
version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe . I think it is a
useful repair tool for you. It is easy to recover your PST file by
using its wizard. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders
and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST
files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aor/
