You could search the hard disk for any left-over *.asd files, but it is
unlikely that you will find any (these are usually deleted when you exit Word
in a normal way). For more on saving files in Word, see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/AutomaticSave.htm.
If you can find the word file, you may try Advanced Word Repair at http://www.datanumen.com/awr/ This tool is rather useful in salvaging
damaged Word documents. Hope this helps.
If it was saved in the normal way at some point in its history, and
you haven't saved anything (or much) to your hard drive since
"deleting" it, you _might_ be able to recover it with file recovery
software. ("Deleting" a file doesn't wipe it off the disk, it just
cuts the connections to it from the directory, freeing up the space to
be reused for other files as they happen to come along.)
