I recently purchased new computer that as vista home premium o.s.. Now, when
I attempt to edit powerpoint presentations in camtasia studio 5, the
narrations are very distorted or have no sound at all.
I did not have this problem with old computer that has xp o.s..

Any suggestions

Camtasia is a poor thing for converting powerpoint to video. it
consumes so much system resources that only the cutting edge
configuration PCs can perform it perfectly. I recommend ppt to video
conversion tool, you can download one from http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com.
and you can find more by searching the phrase on google.

If you want to convert your PowerPoint to video or burn PowerPoint to
DVD directly;
I recomment use some professional tool like Acoolsoft PPT2Video
Converter

or use Acoolsoft PPT2DVD to burn PowerPoint to DVD

this was is $79.95 and is one of the few products that didn't mess up
animations, transitions and music.

Now that all the PowerPoint-to-DVD-Spammers had their chance to advertise,
let me say some words in favor of Camtasia Studio. For me it's still the
best solution to make videos from presentations. And it is not a single-use
product, but can do more. I regularly use it for tutorials on software.

But the multimedia properties of Vista are worse than in Windows XP. Three
things you can try:
- Re-install the TSCC codec (free download from Techsmith website),
- edit short videos, if possible,
- contact TechSmith customer support (they react very quickly and are very
helpful).

What version of Camtasia (5.??) are you runing. Just send a tech support
request to Techsmith and I am sure they will get back to you quickly. (if
you are somehow running the December build of the beta there is a reported
audio/vista bug and you can find info on it at the beta group site).

And for reference - Camtasia, especially since version 5, is very light on
resources and can produce excellent results. The only software I could
recomend above it, for very specific needs, is to use the OfficeFX add-in's
(www.instanteffects.com) export feature to create high-res frame acccurate
movies (but it is more costly and does require very robust computer).
