Recording a Track from Winamp

I can play an audio CD with Winamp, but is there some way to record the
track to a file using Win XP facilities or even with Winamp itself? I found
the Win recorder, but it seems a bit feeble. It looks like it might record
only 60 seconds, and when I tried it win what I was playing with Winamp, it
didn't recognize the sound source.

There's WMP, but is there a WMR? Win Media Recorder.

you can play the CD via Windows Media Player, and choose "Rip Audio From CD"
and you can save in a variety of formats.......MP3, WAV,
WMA............etc........jus change setting in the Tools > Options menu

Thanks. Didn't see a Tools menu though. Ah, there it is. Disguised as a
simple button above the butterfly and Video menu on the right. Who woulda
guessed?

It looks as though WMP has some improvements since I last looked. I somehow
directed it to the CD, but the track by track control wasn't obvious. I
couldn't get to the specific track that I was interested in ... Ah, ha. I
got it. I ripped a track and it carries a lot of identification. For my
present purpose

If you use WMP you might want to turn copy protection off.
I had a friend who had 17 gigs of wma files he got locked out of
and had to use a third party converter to gain access. What a pain.
