record nav buttons.

Whether I add my own Next record button or use the built in, they add records
after it reaches the last record from my search.

How can I turn this off? If there is no next record, don't insert one!

In the form's properties, on the data tab, set 'Allow Additions' to No.

Users can't add any record anymore and the built-in button will be greyed
out.
