Recognizing input device and codic not loaded please

Hi,
I can not get the Win Moviemaker to recognize (or even find) the input
device - Adaptec AVC-2310 VideOH! DVD media center USB2 edition.

Will this unit work with the Win Movie maker? or??

AND

The .mpg's that are imported with the Adaptec will NOT import into Win Movie
??
The error sez that the correct codec is not loaded??

Any help is appreciated.
